Pink covers Sam Smith for BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge

September sees the return of BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge Month, and this year we will be treated to sessions from huge global artists including Jay-Z, Harry Styles and Miley Cyrus. Yesterday (September 8) marked the turn of vocal powerhouse Pink, who performed from the BBC’s Maida Vale studios.

In true Live Lounge style, Pink wowed listeners with a stunning cover. She opted for Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me’, delivering a powerful and emotive vocal in the process. The gospel-tinged chorus was particularly goosebump-worthy, although the singer’s voice suited the song perfectly throughout.

Whilst fans and listeners alike were in awe of the cover, Pink also received the seal of approval from the man himself. Sam, who will be bringing Live Lounge month to an end on September 29, tweeted: “UNBELIEVABLE. Tears in my eyes & the fullest heart. Thank you.’

Pink also delivered a gorgeous performance of her latest single, ‘What About Us’. The track, which is currently number three in the official UK singles chart, is incredibly empowering and her performance truly showcased its anthemic quality.

Additionally, Pink also brought some of her biggest hits to Maida Vale. With a huge discography to choose from, she opted for two of our favourite songs: ‘Try’ and ‘Who Knew’. The songstress delivered plenty of emotion and gave us a ton of feels in the process.

Pink recently made her comeback with the incredible ‘What About Us’, which is the lead single from her forthcoming seventh studio album. Beautiful Trauma is slated for release on October 13.

The singer currently has a lot to celebrate, including recently receiving the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award during this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. When receiving the award, she delivered a poignant speech inspired by her daughter Willow which celebrated androgyny.
